HCM-405 The Financing and Economics of Healthcare Delivery

In this course, students gain knowledge of economics principles such as cost, quality, and access as it relates to the healthcare environment. The principles of healthcare financial management, including accounting and finance, are vitally important to the viability and ongoing operations of all healthcare businesses and organizations. We will explore the impact of healthcare policy on the costs and consequences of healthcare delivery and finance, so that we can better understand the impact of these proposed changes within healthcare policy. Topics include the relevance of economics in health and medical care, demand side considerations, supply side considerations, and public policy in medical care delivery. By the end of the course, students will have developed a thorough appreciation of the impact of healthcare policy on the costs and consequences of healthcare delivery and finance and its impact on the proposed changes
